Artist's Description
This painting began with a Christian couple (middle right) being prevented from adopting 2 girls (lower right). The girls, who were sisters, had to make up their minds whether to follow in Gods ways, or drift away from Him and go with the crowd.
Jesus said, Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way. But the Gateway to life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it. Matthew 7 v 13,14.
Some people said this painting was far too graphic and could give children nightmares. Interestingly, it deeply impacted children and stayed in their minds for years.

The girls in the foreground are twins. The couple on the narrow way tried to adopt them but their hopes were dashed. The husband commissioned this painting, which continues to speak to many children. This sale is the first time it has sold as a card.
