91st Bomb Group B-17G Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine,” serial 42-31909, gets careful attention between missions at Spot 5 of the 323rd Bomb Squadron’s parking area at Bassingbourn in Cambridgeshire.

This Fort flew an amazing 140 combat missions from late February 1944 to the end of the war, including at least eight trips to 'Big B' (Berlin). She’s probably most famous for flying over 125 (126 or 132, sources differ) consecutive missions without an abort for mechanical reasons, an 8th Air Force record.

Wade Meyers spent his early years at Fort Bragg, North Carolina before his family moved to Bossier City, La. when he was ten years old. Fulfilling a dream, Wade soloed a Cessna 150 at age 17 and went on to earn his Commercial and Flight Instructor pilot certificates. After high school, he earned a B.A. in History from Louisiana State University in Shreveport while serving in the US Air Force Reserve at Barksdale Air Force Base. With marriage came a move to the beautiful Birmingham, Alabama area. Diving in head first, Wade quit his job at an aviation museum in 2003 and began to work full-time as an aviation artist.
