and bi-ways
of North Carolina,
the poppies of Spring reach
for the mist at dawn,
presented here in a textured
Fine Art style...
The county road crews
plant these seeds
every autumn,
and as the winter chill
arrives
and the snow falls
on the countryside,
the seeds lay dormant
until Spring,
when the light rains
and warm sunshine
urge the poppies
to show their faces once more.
The pink poppies
are more rarely seen,
but here they are,
dancing over
the smaller red poppies
below their graceful stems.
