Waiting For Paint To Dry

I'm up from the basement, waiting now for paint to dry and epoxy to cure, before going to the next step

Shall I stay upstairs and watch golf?

Or go back down and start a new project?

Oh, if I could only make a go of it with digital art!!.... START AND FINISH IN ONE FELL SWOOP!!

Are you guys ever frustrated having to wait?

I thought you were commenting on how boring the forum is lately (it's like waiting for paint to dry). :-)

I'm not a fan of waiting.

I always have a project going and so don’t have the paint to dry syndrome but there are times I wish the process was quicker. On the other hand digital art does not personally interest me as I like the actual production of a painting into our real material world. My daughter does a great deal of digital art and the results are impressive, guess I am just your basic dinosaur in that regard.

Those of us who served in the military are extremely acquainted with the saying “Hurry up and wait”.
Spent a good deal of my 4 years hurrying up and waiting.

LOL, Peggy, about the forum. I know I've been quite scarce for the last two months (and will stay that way until we get the ability to block a few people).

I've been spending more time at a drone forum and, of course, over at razzle-dazzle - less drama. :)

Might want to crack open a window and turn on an exhaust fan if you plan on watching epoxy dry.

Its best to just leave it be and do something else. I never wait, I always have something to do. Fix something in the basement, clean something up, figure out what friggin power supply I need for the new system, get distracted looking up raw meat for an image with a link to what does raw meat taste like, then distract myself here.

Just when waiting for it to sell...

Mike,

Epoxy doesn't dry,
it cures.

And, today while it cured, I was upstairs watching golf

I do hate waiting to put on my next coat of paint, yes. I'm often very impatient, but yard and house cleaning can be done between painting sessions.

Working with pure linseed oil and pigment, does the paint actually dry?
The oxidation process takes time and that's what so attractive about the media. Surely while the curring time is on going, hundreds of thousands of mechanized technological digital image miracles can be tackled. Utilizing emerging technologies, what was out of reach such as individual film production now is achievable.
Yes, walking and chewing gum, when practiced can be achieved but be aware of those open manholes!

Dries, cures, either way, ventilation.

I can't imagine watching golf on purpose though.

I just started the first painting I have done with "traditional" paint in a long while - I had forgotten how long it can take for paint to dry.

Mike, I've been using PC-7 epoxy since the 70's,.. Dealing directly with the Lang family

As far as golf,.....When I was a teenager I would be, on Saturdays, at 5 in the morning, carrying 2 bags around the Hillcrest Golf course, with $5 in my pocket by 9

Always using ACRYLICS, I almost never have to wait long for drying paint.

And that’s one of its BEST features,IMHO.

As a portrait model on the other side of the brush, I had to wait a week to pose for the artist to continue working in oils. The challenge was being able to recreate the pose time after time. You can see the finished works, some also in charcoal, here:

You know Roger, how do they say:

"If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise ...;"

I do only digital paintings, and depending of complexity of the scean, render could be from less then second, to several hours, longest I was waiting for render to be finished was 37 hours ... and I dont know until finish, will picture be good or bad, sometimes I wait for hours just to see that picture is not good, and to delete it, and start all over again ..

Patience .. :)
