Please allow us to block (or hide) specific forum members. Thank you.

Please create seperate categories for digital art as in AI programs like PS and LR used to enhance our original paintings or photograpy and on the other hand 100% AI generated art where the primary human input is typing a brief story.

t would be nice to get back to Independent Artists. Perhaps an Independent Artists side of the site that does not mingle with the BIG GUYS who get the attention and air space.

I would love to be able to sell SOME of the apparel, but not all.

Would love drag and drop to re-order our images, both on main page and within each of our collections. I know this is repetitive, but this is so important to the overall aesthetics of our pages and categories. Thanks so much for considering!

It would be lovely to be able to order free samples of your own wall art.

I second Donna's suggestion
"I would love to be able to sell SOME of the apparel, but not all."

I have a specific reason why: some of my images are more adult (artistic nudes and war images) which work well on adult sized Tshirts but not on baby onsies. For this reason I avoid using those images on apparel and would greatly appreciate a way to separate the items.

Is it possible to have an easier way to turn off products? It would be nice to easily offer only prints on some items.

Next to the Add To Cart can we have a Buy Now Using PayPal feature/button. Thus capturing more of the impulse buyers.

Seconding Rebecca Herranen's suggestion.
If I use my own photos and alter them using Photoshop filters or Actions plus endless tweaking and texture additions, 3DLUTs and whatnot, that's a very different form of "Digital Art" than an AI text prompt. It'd be good not to lump the two together.

Agree with Glenn McCarthy that an independent artist side would be nice.

I have an idea for a new product offering on FAA. Perhaps it has already been suggested, already tried, or wouldn't be feasible! Who do I contact regarding this?

Gill Billington

Celeste, just edit your post to say what your suggestion is.

Rebecca Herranen

Right here is probably the best place for your idea Celeste

I know this has been asked again and again but here goes.....Can we please be notified when we have a review? Seems like it would be as easy for the tech people to set it up just like we get emails when we've made a sale. It would be so very helpful especially if there is something we the artist can improve on.

Please I would like to be able to OPT OUT from this ASAP as was suggested in this thread:

https://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=8312255

We must have a Way To Opt Out Of Feeding Ai ...

"We have partnered with AI purely to allow people using it to print their results for their personal use.. " this we know very well not working like this, with this we are just going to feed the paintbynumbers and diamondpaintingstuff and other stealing printing companies using a slightly altered version of our art for them believing that is alright ..

I have 276 images as far now there and I am NOT at all happy! I don't even know how this happened without our permission :(( I don't want nothing to do with AI, if someone want it should be their option to do so, but respect please the art of those who don't want...

And opposite of the sitewide discounts were created all of us should be default OPTED OUT, and not opt in..
thank you

I can only say this one more time

We are not AI! We are not running AI sites. You need to contact them.

Celeste Mayne

Thank you Rebecca! Thank you Gill!

Perhaps a little late on a new product suggestion, AND, probably not a completely novel idea! I did read a suggestion from Slip the Trap posted eleven days ago on offering art books.

I am thinking of good old fashioned coffee table books; not ebooks or digital. Each artist could opt in or out, and mark-up TBD. A purchaser could select art for the book from multiple artists or exclusively from one. FAA would determine the minimum/maximum pages in the book, and all other particulars needed, in order to make it feasible to print.

I have a suggestion that would make it more difficult for AI sites to scrape FAA images without permission:

I suggest that FAA discontinue displaying our plain uploaded images (even in low-resolution form) & instead show our images ONLY as rendered products. For example, instead of displaying a plain image for an unframed print or poster, show the image rendered with white borders on a wall. I've noticed that other POD sites are already doing this. The only "product" where this wouldn't be possible would be images available for licensing. In that case, perhaps the images could have an optional watermark.

This would make our images less useful for AI, without interfering with sales on FAA.

It would also make it more difficult for others to download our images to be printed or used for other purposes for free. After reading one of the AI threads I tried right-clicking one of my images & uploaded it to FAA's "Design Your Own Products" page. My downloaded image was just 600x400 pixels, but when uploaded it was automatically upsized to 2000 x 1333 pixels.

I understand that FAA is not AI & is not responsible for the AI sites' actions. FAA can only control it's own site. However, the way images are displayed is within FAA's control

Thanks!

Hi. I agree with the Dora and others who do not want their art to be used for free to print at home or sell.

Abbie wrote in my discussion: FAA have partnered with Lensa to allow people on that app to purchase prints of the images they make in that app, and DallE for people to print images they create using that AI on a page here.

I was hoping that the best is to stop this partnership, which allows people to earn money from our images, which they have edited a little.
We receive no profit for this. We should be able to opt out.
We cannot stop each AI company etc, but we (FAA) should try to stop them from getting the images in the first place.

Even though the world will always have shady business, I think it is good to stay away from them. No partnership with Lensa or similar companies.

This are my thoughts. I really wish for better protection. And also information before some deals are made, if it concerns my art.

Thank you.

I agree with the suggestions in this thread by everyone
If we need to have an option to opt out of having images used for ai it needs to be available.
As I do not want my images used by other companies unless I give permission and I don't give permission for ai to use them.

I have to admit I am not a techy person and I don't understand all of this.
I know images can be grabbed from online but all I know is it would be a small image if they did.

But I still don't want others to be given the opportunity to use them in any form.
Unless I specifically gave permission.

It is great to see new technology but it shouldn't be able to just grab images from wherever it chooses unless agreed.

I also don't understand the technical aspect of AI but I don't want my images used that way either. Please let us opt-out of this "partnership" or whatever the arrangement is. I want no part of it. Protect our images, please.

I agree we should have an opt out -- but I think it should be beyond having AI on the site as a function. I really want that ANTI AI bot watermark coatings they keep talking about. A transparent overlay that does something to mark the images of the thumbnails that prevent a scraper bot from taking or using it in the first place.

https://laion-aesthetic.datasette.io/laion-aesthetic-6pls/images?_search=mike+savad&_sort=rowid

I have over 7000 entries in this stupid database. So I am annoyed, its not FAA's fault, I understand that, since the bots have been scraping this stuff for years probably. But we know about it now. I can't apply a watermark to my images because they are uploaded already. And i'm certain that when you make the thumbnail it will squash watermark I make anyway and ruin it.

As people are waking up to the fact that their art, personal photos etc are being taken by AI, people and their fast tendencies may boycott it and other sites. We can see here that it makes the site look like they are offering our own work for use to others, that's why its confusing. I think the site should be on the forefront of protecting images with that kind of watermark. You could even be in the news as an item of being concerned that our work is being harvested in this way. And tell them we applied the watermark to prevent this kind of blatant theft.

Of course it doesn't really help that we are now selling the do it yourself kit.

So I really want protection for the images, it will take years in court for anything to happen. I get like 10,000-20,000 hits a day now since the new generative AI came out, and I would have to assume its that database checking the images or people accessing them through AI.

I cannot edit my previous post, but it is related, not a new wish, I would like that Sean contacted the Laion people, because only he as the owner of this site can have the database remove all of our work.. and an effective watermark protection against any AI bot harvesting our art on this site. thank you

Andrew Pacheco

I would like some protection from AI harvesting my images from all FAA and Pixels related sites. I'm not sure what exactly that means, maybe some kind of watermark that thwarts the bots, maybe some code on the site that prevents it that we can opt into. Whatever the answer is, I would really like to see some protection.

Dora

The people at Laion are not taking images from FAA. They are documenting the databases of the AI companies that are taking images from FAA and other sites. They're the good guys in this.

But I agree that Sean should proactively take steps to send DMCA's to the software companies who are scraping FAA and Pixels.

Abbie Shores

Any partnership FAA/Pixels has with the AI company is to sell prints people using another site creates.

We are not creating images, giving them images, taking images, we are selling them prints of images they create. Exactly the same as we do for everyone else that uploads to the site.

You cannot opt out of something that we are not doing unless you go to the site that IS doing it.

Now let us have OTHER suggestions please that actually can be done. Thank you

Is there any way the display order of the images can be reversed for all contests? Or randomized rather than in order they were submitted?

It seems that those who are on the first page often win more often, or are in the leaderboard more often, most likely because many voters aren't scrolling through the many pages of images that are part of the contest. Is it possible to allow the host of the contest to choose (or scramble) the order right before voting so that the participants aren't aware of which order the images appear in the end? Or even alter the order - those that entered right away would get seen first - like a first come, first served sort of concept?

Thanks for the opportunity to ask, and for any insight you might have on this process.

đź‘Ť I agree with Mike Savad, and many others, that we need protection from AI, from whatever person or company takes / uses our images - Without Our Permission in the AI way !

Hartmut Jager

đź‘Ť I agree with Melissa OGara ! The often hundreds, sometimes even over thousand Contest submissions - are impossible to vote for - or for potential customers to wade through - because of the looooong time it take to do so ! - I suggest a limit of only one image, or maybe two, for FAA Contests !

Can we have an edit feature for changing the default FAA watermark to one of our own choosing, this i believe will look more individual, professional and help protect the artists & photographers images when or if being scraped by AI websites.

No watermark means no way to beat the Fair Use law… A watermark is or could be deemed a statement that this artwork/photo is not allowed to be scraped by anyone or AI website.

Edit:

I just read Mikes post, i agree, hopefully my suggestion could be the idea we require to add at least a higher level of protection. The current Fine Art America watermark is out dated and we need a watermark that’s more personal to the artist/photographer.

Resize image after uploading. And designer cropped frames for tshirts.

Taina Sohlman

I agree with Mike Savad and Douglas Brown and many others. We need a higher level of protection from AI, be it a more invasive watermark or an overlay to deter bots, or, like Beverly Brown suggested, displaying only product images.

When working from my android phone I can no longer see the right side of the webpages, ie, I can't see delete boxes on email, or in discussion threads in myyy group the counter box can't be seen. Can this be fixed

Mike Savad

@pamela - rotate the phone to landscape and you see it like a normal page.

I would really want our images in our shops and Premium sites to please show the correct order of our images when a wall art of product is selected.

I have NOT selected images by bestsellers first so why do they show that way in our shops when looking at a substrates and products?
