A self portrait that offers the viewer an interesting perspective on what is important and what is simply window dressing. The sturdy spine, the not so sturdy ribs point to the ease with which a heart can be wounded, but emphasize that hurt, although real, doesn't have to last forever.

Second oldest of eleven children, and raised in a very strict traditional Catholic home, Mary was exposed to a lot of religious art as a child and became interested in more contemporary art as she got older.
