Spanish colonial art

Jose Robles was born in Lima, Peru in 1972. He graduated from the National Schools of Fine arts in Peru where he studied painting and sculpture. During his years as a student, he was drawn to and inspired by the works of the grand colonial teachers and paintings of the Cuquenza School (from Cuzco).His beginnings as an artist were in the church working to preserve paintings from the 16th an 17th centuries and is an art restorer and conservator. "I feel the need to express myself through this type of painting by preserving the traditional models of the colonial period." As a professional painter who takes to heart teachings and methods of the Cuquenza School, he dedicates himself to the preservation of Latin-American tradition and ideals....
