Afternoon sun casts warmth and light upon a meditative, yet joyful woman. At the ocean, the child in us comes out to wade.

Rare is the person who, upon stepping onto the sand, does not feel the impulse to kick off one’s shoes and go barefoot, free from the confines and constraints of footware. In some ways, it is a larger message given through this action: the sea is a place so big, so grand, so enormously, magnificently beautiful, that it demands to be felt, experienced, wondered at.

In Gathering Thoughts, the woman in the painting is, literally, allowing the surf and the sea to encompass her, to surround her, to embrace her with their sights and sounds and smells and textures. I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color.
