Artist's Description
Another stunning flower that graced the desert this year is the lovely apricot mallow. Shrubby and wooly, this perennial bush grows 1-3 feet tall with numerous large, apricot-orange to pink flowers in wand-like clusters near the tips of weak, wide-ranging, usually erect stems. One of the largest-flowered, most drought-tolerant species of Globe-mallow. In wet years, it forms spectacular displays in the low, hot southwestern deserts. In some forms, petals are pale purplish pink.

Thank you for finding my work! The subjects I choose to paint are frequently inspired by nature and imagining my place in the universe. I have a fondness for the ease of acrylics, but also work with colored pencils, watercolor, oils, and just about any medium I can get my hands on (I think I might be a hoarder of art supplies). Born in Southern California, raised in the mountains of Northern Utah, I have lived much of my adult life in the desert solitude near Palm Springs (with a brief 2-year fling in the tropics of Hawaii). I have enjoyed the beauty, tranquility, and lush environment of all these areas. As an avid hiker and camper, I find the deserts, mountains and ocean beaches to be some of my favorite places.
